US Universities Engineering Rankings

Since I personally love this field my first university list is the ranking of Engineering degrees of various universities across USA. Then you must remember that you should not go by rank alone. You should take into account scholarship availability, trans-disciplinary studies, Opportunities for research and how many "professors" take your class. Big state universities often use their Graduate Assistants to take undergraduate class... surely you don't want that. So here's the list of the universities.

Reasons to study in USA

Here I'll try to show you why to choose USA for your higher studies at any level.

1. Flexibility of courses: To me this is a great thing. You can bend your course to combine German with Electrical Engineering, or High Energy Physics with History! This can be a great boon while trying to get employment. Further at the Undergraduate level, if you are majoring in Electrical Engineering but a after a semester you find that EE is not your thing..you are always welcomed to change your major to one that suits you the best. May be Aerospace
Engineering, Physics or even Economics!

2. Excellent Research and Employment opportunities: This applies only if you are employable enough. You need to be very good at English and at least another foreign language!

3. Best Universities: The majority of colleges and universities featured in world rankings are in the United States. Universities like Harvard, Yale, MIT, CalTech, Stanford at the top of the list with their research facilities and employment opportunities.

4. Approach to Learning: Unlike in India, the approach to learning is not dictated by the kind of questions that will be asked in the exams. Instead, you absorb and perform at a steady pace and there is no pressure of your whole life being determined by one exam.

5. Various Extra-Curricular development: Universities in US offer a broad spectrum of Extra-Curricular Activities which not only helps your overall growth but also makes you attractive to prospective employers.

6. Value of Degree Earned: A degree earned from the USA is respected everywhere in the world. So you can work almost any place in the world.

7. Tie-Ups: Most universities have research tie ups with the best institutions in the world like Oxford, Cambridge, Max Plank Institutes, University of Bremen. Imagine spending an year abroad doing research in Germany, France or England!

8. Internships: USA has the most number of acclaimed companies in the world. Starting from Microsoft, Apple, HP, IBM to Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon. Even major companies have their companies set up in USA like Siemens,SONY, PWC and what not. Thus you can do internships at many of these companies to gain skills in your field of study be it engineering or Administration.

So, what are you waiting for? Start preparing your resume today!

Admissions 101

Here is the basic things that you must do if you seriously want to get into universities in the USA.

1. You must hone up your reading and writing skill from a very early age. It is however never too late to begin.

2. Start early: You must grow your interest early. As if you applying for MS you need to answer a "Why" question. For example " Why are you specifically interested in this particular university and this course.

3. You have to have a strong extra-curricular participation and accomplishments if you want to get good financial aid or get accepted at the best universities. Yes! Unlike in India you marks matters just so much. They want impressive human being not impressive statistics

4. Develop your strengths and build them up!

5. The most important: Believe in yourself! Most people who have failed to get an acceptance was that they lacked self confidence.. their application showed pointed at their poor self esteem..

I'll be posting information regarding universities soon. I would also urge you to comment on my post and request information like if you would like to know about universities who would accept you with a low GRE of XXXX or XXX.". I will be glad to help.

Genesis...

During my research on US universities for my higher studies at the undergraduate level ( and also my brother's Masters), I came to see how very helpless students are while selecting universities due to lack of information. And even the internet is too vast to search for specific requirements on SAT and GRE scores, GPA among others. SO I decided that I should put everything neatly for students who are considering USA for their higher studies.

I have seen numerous students paying HUGE of money to various institutes for University SELECTION, Admission COUNSELING and tips for preparation. Here you can get it for free. But I have not given everything out. Those interested to get a personal one on one guidance should contact me at usuniversitiesadmissions@gmail.com . I will also help out with your essays, SOP by giving you various tips and telling you the MAJOR MISTAKES that students do.

Now you may ask who am I to give you the info when the whole internet is there. True! Only thing I did here was to assemble the information clearly. All things published here is the result of a thorough research for about two years on universities in the USA and will definitely help you to select your universities properly regardless of the level of education.

I myself have been helped thoroughly with my research! I got 17 acceptances! And I'll most probably be attending a state university next Fall! I look forward to help you all.
